Sanjukta Dutta - Odissi

Thanks Google and Blogger.com. Now I can upload video's directly to my blog. Earlier I had posted another clipping of the same artist on YouTube and received overwhelming response. So , I thought it's good to inaugurate Video upload with the extra-ordinary performance by Sanjukta Dutta.

It took appox. 15 mins to upload the 11 mb video.

Thanks for posting the video.
If you don't mind, I have a few suggestions:
Since the visuals are so important in a dance program, if your camera allows, some close ups of eyes, feet or hand movements would be nice.
Keeping the camera at the shoulder level of the audience might improve the shot.
In this situation, I can see that the lighting was very challenging as the audience was in the dark.
Let us say you were allowed to move whereever you wanted, then this could be the shot list:
Shot 1: Artist starting the performance with a full view of the stage with the banner. You would be standing right in front of the stage.
shot 2:Long shot like what you have only for a few seconds to give the perspective of the place.
Shot 3 Medium shot showing accompaniment with the dancer.
Shot 4: Some close ups of the dancer.
Shot 5: Focus on the dancer, following her movements for as long as you want.
In case of a music program, you can have shots without the artist in the frame. You can shoot the accompaniment and the audience facing the camera.

I do understand all the difficulties you must face while recording a live performance.
May be you can ask for permission? How knows, they might be willing since this is for your blog.
