टाटा समुहाचे नामांकीत वेस्टसाईड नामक तयार कपड्याच्या दुकानांची भारतभर साखळी आहे. एकदा त्यामधील कॅफेमधे मी व माझी लहान पुतणी बसलेलो असतांना शेजारील एक व्यक्ती सतत धुम्रपान करत होती. त्यांना या पासुन परावॄत करण्यासाठी मी तेथील कर्मचाऱ्यांना व अधिकाऱ्यांना विनंती केली पण त्यांनी असमर्थता दाखवली. सार्वजनिक ठिकाणी, उपहारगॄहात धुम्रपानाला बंदी आहे हे त्यांच्या निदर्शनास आणुन देखील त्यांनी आमच्याकडॆ "Smoking Allowed " आहे असे मला उत्तर दिले.
लगेचच त्यांनी मी email पाठवले , उत्तर देण्याचेही त्यांनी सौजन्य दाखवले नाही. टाटा सारख्या जबाबदार ,सामाजीक दायीत्व मानणाऱ्या समुहाकडुन हे अपेक्षीत नव्हते.

I am Westside customer from day one. On 19/03/08, while shopping at Westside, 39, N.S. Patkar Marg,Mumbai – 400 007, I noticed one gentleman was smoking continuously in the Cafe . I approached staff at the counter and mentioned about the smoking. I was told that " This is Cafe area and smoking is allowed ".
I then approached higher authority and requested him to restrain the smoker from smoking as the cafe was full of children, women and pregnant women in particular. I also mentioned that it is against the rule of the land to smoke in public places and our union health minister Shri Anbumani Ramadoss is very much against smoking. However he expressed his inability to do so as it is a policy to allow smoking in the Cafe.
I was really surprised and taken a back to know that such a reputed store like Westside which is meant for entire family allows smoking inside Cafe. May I request you to BAN smoking inside WESTSIDE and declare Westside all over the country as a "NON-SMOKING ZONE "
It is our right to a "TOBACCO FREE WORLD"

Still I am waiting for your reply. I was under impression that socially responsible group like Tata would respond to my request immediately.
May I point out to you that it's unlawful to allow smoking in the Cafe.

Have you got any kind of reply from westside? See the brand like TATA can not affoard to loose their values & ethics. It may not be the big issue for them but in society it is! The same thing happened with times... I wrotea mail to the author of airmail>> sat. in which their was a story about indian cinema going all over the world & at the same time the picture of India was shown without kashmeer... well visit my blog this was meant to be just a reply...
